Do lawyers exist in this world because depriving someone of something they need for a physical disability, kicking someone out because of a suit they literally have to wear, and harming children by forcing them to eat a lot of paper (to be fair if they had just confiscated them or destroyed the comics theat may have been acceptable) all sound like lawsuits waiting to happen.
I agree with you but lawsuits are based on the nature of the laws and norms of society. You can’t necessarily apply what is and isn’t allowed in our world to this one. This may be totally legal and perhaps even approved of by society in the Latchkey world as an appropriate punishment and thus no grounds for a lawsuit.
That said these guards are bullies and are enjoying the power trip too much.
Come on guys. You’re feeling down now but you’re forgetting some important things. You’re not trapped outside of Toby Town for the next 8 hours with nothing to do. They’re trapped with you for the next 8 hours and you have nothing better to do than get into trouble. Also Ash probably has explosives. Time to get to work.
